Her most well-known work is her character Ashley Banks on the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. She began singing at the age of four. Her mother would encourage her to go to audition for Sesame Street. In 1985, when she was six-year-old, she started her acting career as a regular performer on the PBS children's educational program Sesame Street. She appeared in numerous Broadway shows in New York City, including Fences (with James Earl Jones and later Billy Dee Williams) and Orfeo del Campo (off-Broadway). She was just seven when she won Star Search. She received an overall score of 4 stars when she returned for the second time.
